Praying for Peace Around the Globe

Praying for Peace Around the Globe invites us to pray and act for peace in different countries and around different issues of peace and justice on a daily and weekly basis.

"If we pray these prayers in a space where silence can have its say, avail ourselves of the resources that accompany this book and-most important- put faces on the tragedies of violence and injustice found herein, we will be led to that honest lament and deep embrace of sorrow which will propel us to act. We will find ourselves taking our crucified world into our hearts, as well as our hands, and find our feet being guided into the path of peace."

Each prayer page describes the situation in a country or around a specific issue and is followed by a prayer for peace, often written by someone in that country. The "Action" segments provide options for putting our prayers into practice. Finally, a shorter "Prayer of Petition" provides a ready aid for faith communities to use in their Sunday or daily worship.
