An Advent Journey For Your Nativity Set

The Nativity scene is one known to Christians everywhere. Different cultures produce beautiful renditions of the Nativity, so we give you a beginners Nativity, perfect for your children. The Nativity is the setting of Jesus’ birth. It replicates the manger where he was born as well as the different characters we know and love that visit him in his young life.

Alongside Mary, Joseph, and baby Jesus are the donkey with cart in tow, camel, sheep, and other animals in the manger. A fun way to teach your children about Jesus’ birth is through playtime with the Little People Nativity Set and an adventurous journey. Set up the manger under your Christmas tree with the animals grazing, and hide baby Jesus somewhere safe until Christmas time. Take Mary and Joseph and place them somewhere else in your home with the donkey and cart. Each day of Advent, you can move the parents closer to the manger to simulate the journey they took to Bethlehem. Finally on Christmas, with Mary and Joseph in the manger, you can bring out baby Jesus. In the weeks following the birth of Christ, you can replicate the journey with the three wise men, following the star to find the baby in the manger.

Your children will love moving Mary and Joseph closer to the manger in anticipation of Jesus’ birthday on Christmas and then doing the same thing over again as they help the three wise men find their savior.
