St. Eric

Saint Eric, also known as Saint Eric IX of Sweden, was a 12th-century king of Sweden known for his Christian piety and efforts to strengthen the Church in Sweden. He is remembered for his just and peaceful reign, his promotion of Christianity, and his care for the poor and sick. Eric was martyred in 1160 by political rivals while attending Mass. He was soon venerated as a saint, and his cult grew over the centuries. Eric is considered the patron saint of Sweden and is revered for his faith and commitment to the Christian ideals of justice and compassion.

Feast Day is on May 18.
