St. Philomena
Saint Philomena is a virgin martyr and one of the early Christian saints. Her remains were discovered in the Catacombs of Priscilla in Rome in the early 19th century. Although very little is known about her life, Saint Philomena has become a powerful intercessor for those in need, especially for the healing of illnesses and for the protection of children. She is often depicted with a palm, symbolizing martyrdom, and an anchor, symbolizing hope. Despite being removed from the liturgical calendar in 1961 due to lack of historical evidence, Saint Philomena remains a popular and beloved saint among many Catholics.
