Palm Sunday, April 5

Dear Friends in Christ,

As we all begin to navigate through this unprecedented time, we understand that public gatherings and masses remain uncertain for many Dioceses around the United States. We would like to thank everyone for their cooperation and overwhelming support during this challenging time.

The time to cancel and make changes to your palm orders has passed.  The palm growers have harvested and have begun shipping the palms. The Palm Growers need our support, as this is their ONLY source of income. Losing this income would be devastating to many agricultural workers that live in an economically depressed area of the United States who rely on this seasonal work.  Without these workers, the Christian community will likely be scrambling next year and the years following to fulfill this need without everyone’s support.

As your partner in faith, we have reached out to many other Church Good dealers, Diocese and the religious community to brainstorm how we can maintain our community spirit as followers of Christ.

The following are ideas for PALM SUNDAY that have been considered and/or implemented across the country:

  • Bless the palms in a private mass and distribute them outside the church on Palm Sunday or throughout the weekend

  • Televised community prayer service utilizing the palms they picked up

  • Set up a drive-thru where people can pick up the palms and perhaps receive a blessing and make their weekly donation or take an offertory envelope

  • Use social media to engage your congregation as they celebrate Palm Sunday

  • Unused palms, those not picked up, may be burned into ash and saved for next year’s Ash Wednesday services

We greatly appreciate your understanding. If your community finds that they will not use the palms ordered this year, please let us know. Although we cannot give you a refund, as a complimentary service we will burn the palms for you and send you the ash which you can use for your 2021 Ash Wednesday services.

May God Bless You,

The DiCocco Family St. Jude Shop, Inc
