St. Florian

Saint Florian was a Christian saint and martyr who lived during the time of the Roman Empire. He served as a high-ranking officer in the Roman army and was responsible for organizing firefighting brigades. According to legend, Florian saved a town from a fire by extinguishing it with a single bucket of water. He was later martyred for his Christian faith, reportedly by drowning, during the Diocletianic Persecution in the early 4th century. Saint Florian is venerated as the patron saint of firefighters, chimney sweeps, and others who work with fire. His intercession is often sought for protection against fires and floods.

Feast Day is on May 4.
