St. Theodore
Saint Theodore of Amasea, also known as Saint Theodore Tiro or Saint Theodore the Recruit, was a Roman soldier who was martyred for his Christian faith in the early 4th century. Refusing to renounce his faith, he was subjected to torture and eventually burned alive. He is venerated in both the Eastern Orthodox and Roman Catholic Churches, and his courage and steadfastness have made him a patron saint of soldiers.
