St. John the Baptist

Saint John the Baptist was a Jewish prophet who is believed to have preached about the coming of the Messiah, Jesus Christ. He baptized Jesus in the Jordan River and is considered the forerunner or precursor of Jesus. John is mentioned in the Gospels as a leading figure in the religious landscape of his time, calling people to repentance and announcing the arrival of the Kingdom of God. He is revered as a saint in several Christian traditions for his role in preparing the way for Jesus.

Feast Day is on June 24.
